Welcome to Calamity Blooms…
Our historic Oldham County farm has been a part of Kentucky’s agricultural legacy for generations. Over the past century, the farm has been used to raise crops and livestock, and today, is exclusively devoted to growing specialty cut flowers. The c. 1909 farmhouse and heritage barn have stood the test of the time and now serve as the heart of this little slice of Kentucky history.
We specialize in growing specialty cut flowers with a strong focus on offering the most unique and seasonably available blooms. We offer monthly subscription services for home and business customers, event florals, and hand-crafted special occasion arrangements with delivery available in the greater Louisville area. By using in-season blooms, our bouquets and arrangements showcase the very best each season has to offer.
~ MEET MARY ~
Mary Chauvin and her daughter Cassidy moved to this farm in 2011. After growing up in the suburbs of Louisville, Kentucky, Mary was determined to provide her daughter with a deeper connection to the natural world and an appreciation for the value in caring for other living beings. Over the years, they raised a host of small farm animals, including Nubian goats, Babydoll Southdown sheep, pigs, chickens, and ducks. The mother-daughter duo started the Goshen Farmer’s Market in 2012 and sold naturally grown vegetables at the market for several seasons. Cassidy attended North Oldham High School and excelled as a 3rd baseman for the Lady Mustangs.
Mary and Stan Chauvin married in 2017. Over time, Mary’s vegetable gardens evolved into rows and rows of breathtaking flowers the couple grew together. As the gardens filled their home with blooms, it became clear that the future of the farm lay in the cultivation of the flowers they loved so much. And thus, Calamity Blooms was born.
Cassidy went on to college and has now begun her own career as a small business owner. Today, Mary and Stan share the farm with their 4 beloved dogs, an evolving cast of barn cats, and a flock of funny ducks.
